Woodford Reserve, Thoroughbred farms and the railroad town of Midway, in one slow day.
Versailles is the seat of Woodford County, the heart of Kentucky horse country, where stone walls and black plank fences frame mile after mile of Thoroughbred farms. Woodford Reserve's stone distillery is just outside town, and Keeneland is a few minutes east on Versailles Road.
Midway, a few miles north, grew up around the railroad, and trains still run down the middle of its main street, which is lined with shops and restaurants. It is the right pace for lunch between a distillery and a farm.
Woodford Reserve, horse farm visits in season, scenic drives on the country roads and good local restaurants. Keeneland and Lexington are just east.
Yes. The train tracks run right down the main street, the shops and restaurants are close together, and it sits between Versailles, Lexington and Frankfort, so it fits almost any horse country day.
Often, yes. Farm visits depend on the season and each farm's schedule. Tell us your dates and we will find the right fit.
About 20 minutes. Versailles sits just west of Lexington with Keeneland in between, so it is easy to base in either town.
